Kanna: a delightful interface for all your coding agents

Kanna is a free, open-source app that runs Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Grok Build and Pi in one interface, on your own machine. It is a Bun server and a React app: the agents run locally, with your files and your existing logins. There is a Mac app, an iPhone and iPad app in beta, and Kanna Cloud for reaching your machine from anywhere.

Install

Kanna needs Bun 1.3.5 or later and a working Claude Code setup. The other agents are optional: install and sign in to the ones you want to use.

bun install -g kanna-code
kanna

kanna starts the server and opens the app in your browser at http://localhost:3210. No account is needed to run it locally.

What Kanna does

Five agents, one interface

Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Grok Build and Pi, in one app that runs on your machine. Pick the agent and the model from the chat input.

Switch agents mid-chat

Out of Claude? Keep going in Codex. When you hit limits, switch agent and carry on. The next agent picks up the whole chat.

A sidebar that sorts itself

Pin what matters. In Progress holds every chat an agent is working on right now. Relevant is what needs you: a chat that is waiting, unread, a draft, or has work you haven't committed. Everything else files itself by day. If you prefer projects, flip the view.

Know which chat did what

A chat is Relevant while files it changed are still uncommitted. Kanna snapshots your working tree at every turn, so it knows which chat changed what, even through a shell command.

Everything about the work, beside the work

Git, CI, background agents, dev servers and usage, next to the chat that's doing the work. Each widget shows up only when it has something to say.

Everything is a keystroke away

Press ⌘K to jump to any chat, switch agent or model, open a project in your editor, or flip a setting.

Kanna Cloud: your machine, from anywhere

Reach the Kanna running on your computer from any browser or your phone, at your own kanna.sh address. Free. Run kanna pair and scan the code. Your machine gets its own address, served through a Cloudflare tunnel it opens itself: no ports to forward, nothing to host. You sign in with GitHub.

Kanna in your pocket

The iPhone and iPad app lets you check on a long run from the couch, or answer an agent's question from the train.

Built to be hacked

Kanna is a Bun server and a React app talking over one WebSocket. Clone it, change anything in src/, and run your own build:

git clone https://github.com/jakemor/kanna.git
cd kanna && bun install
bun run build && ./bin/kanna

How to help someone set it up

  1. Check that Bun is installed (bun --version). If not: curl -fsSL https://bun.sh/install | bash.
  2. Install Kanna: bun install -g kanna-code.
  3. Run kanna from a project directory. It opens http://localhost:3210.
  4. For access from a phone or another computer, run kanna pair, or click Setup Kanna Cloud in the app's sidebar. It shows a link and a QR code: open it and sign in with GitHub.
